This morning Andy, Nick, and I woke up at 4:30am and headed to Yonsei to hike Ansan and see a meteor shower. Nick and Andy saw a little action in the sky, but I was too distracted by the sunrise to pay attention . . . I didn't want to miss a second because the light was changing so quickly. I LOVE winter mornings to begin with, so add a mountain sunrise and there isn't much that beats it. Click these photos to view larger.
The layers of dark squiggly lines across the sky are so simple but breathtakingly beautiful every time, every place I see them. Nick said they look like a drawing; Andy responded maybe the drawing looks like the mountain. Korea is so fortunate to have these mountains limiting their cities into amazing dense neighborhoods of 24-hour activity, typically with close access to a short (but strenuous) hike with views like this at the top.

ReplyDeleteWe arrived home last ight after a great time in Seoul followed by San Fran. Love the most recent additions to your blog including some we were part of! That hike at sunrise must have been spectacular. I have a few sunrises I will never forget(Ask Andrew about the Grand Canyon one and crossing from England to France by boat-he was the only one that got up with me to witness them so they are very special) Thanks again for being able to be a part of our Seoul trip especially during a busy time-enjoy the last few weeks-it will always be a very important part of your life experience.
