SEOUL - soju bomb, anyone?

Soju is a traditionally rice-distilled liquor made here in S. Korea and a very popular drink when gathering at restaurants / bars in groups. Every Tuesday night after we have a lecture or tour of something in the city, we typically go out with some of our professors. It seems like a bad idea, but our studio professor didn't come into school today (Wednesday) so thankfully, we get the whole day to catch up on work we did not do last night . . . because we were drinking Soju Bombs and eating platters of fried crab and fresh fruit. (Koreans typically have food to share when drinking.)

Soju Bomb, Somaek (korean pronunciation): a shot of Soju dropped into a glass of beer (maekju) and drank quickly

Fortunately, there are no photos to post from the latest Soju-bomb experience.

  1. Wow. Those sound intense! Glad you had an extra day to get some work done and that there is no photographic evidence!

  2. I can't say I necessarily miss somaek as they will put you on the floor in black out state with a crushing hangover to boot... but I miss all my memories associated with them... the memories that are not blacked out, lol
