PLACES
Stockholm is a great assemblage of places, spaces and of course islands. While not as intimate as Venice, there is a resemblance in the constant presence of water that is part of life in the city. We were fortunate the first day to make it to the Skogskyrkogarden and St. Mark's church on the periphery and then to the Kungstradgarden and the Modern and Architecture Museums in the core.
Day two brought us to the Stockholm City Hall, an amazing building that references classicism, modernism and vernacular architecture all in one. We then ventured to the Gamla Stan and strolled the cobbled stone streets and alleys. It was a treat to see one of the best preserved medieval urban areas in all of Europe. We finished the day with sauna and a nap at the hotel.
Day three brought us back to the Gamla Stan and finish exploring its contorting streets followed by a quick jaunt to Sodermalm before heading to the Viking line terminal to begin our JOURNEY back to Helsinki.
